Emotion of Sad

My emotion is sad.

She resides in the deep

And travels my veins

She weighs down the soul

And hollows out bones.

My emotion is sad.

She exhales long the breath

And bends low my frame

She stretches down the face

And curls small my heart.

My emotion is sad

This I know

And this I know, well.

Poetry: The Tear

Small wet sphere trickling down

Smooth and heated skin.

Such irony a tear so small,

Could fortress and carry

So many sins.

Poetry: Depth of Sad

By Monica C. Voskamp

Why am I sad?

Why am I sad you ask?

I wish I knew.

I just know my heart has plunged deep.

And is now drumming loud with pain.

These tears are falling hot and slow

Triggered by songs

Lady Gaga sings.

Tell me why I’m sad,

Because I don’t really

Know.

Divorce: the Broken Song.

By Monica C. Voskamp

We move together.

We flow, we sway

We lean, we bend

And then something begins

To give way.

Only so much

And only so little

Can 2 souls take

Before they bend too much

Before they break too much.

Piece by piece

Song by song

Fragmented over time

They fall apart

And no longer move

Like the dance they once

Knew so well.

Once they could

Bend with the wind

Once they could

Recover so they wouldn’t

Snap and break.

But somewhere along the way

Something began to dissipate

And that beautiful unity dance

Became undone.

The music has stopped

The dance is paused

Broken feet can’t move

Broken hearts can’t sing

Without love,

They fall apart.

With more lies

With more hurt

Added a little more each day

The cost becomes too much.

And slowly they both bend

Sadly they both break

And their beautiful song

No longer plays.

Poetry: Summer Song

By Monica C. Voskamp

Floated away

Late one summer’s eve

My heart’s song.

I search the wind

The forests deep

I search the creeks,

The streams and trees

But cannot find her.

Captured somewhere

Her voice can’t speak

My heart’s song.

I call out to the stars

I scream into the dark

I call her name loud

Every turn I make

Yet still cannot find

My heart’s song.

I’m so sorry

Tears stream down

I’m sorry for mistaking

The beauty you were

And letting the dark

Become your hiding place.

I’m so sorry

Again I apologize

I know you’re afraid

I know you’re broken

Silent melody now.

Hiding somewhere

Scared to come out

My heart’s song.

I won’t give up

I know you’re longing

To play notes of joy

I promise you,

You will sing again.

I will find you,

Mend your broken strings

Hold you close, help you see

It’s still possible

To sing.

I catch winter’s cold

Let him carry me

Into the ice below

Determined to find

My heart’s song.

Frozen somewhere

In past chaos,

She is covered deep

Waiting for warmth

Of gentle healing free.

I’ll find the key

With sunlight’s love

Melt frozen lyrics

Free serenade sweet

My summer song.

Always hope. Always believe. Always love. ❤
