Poetry: Work So Hard

By Monica C. Voskamp

Work so hard just to

Create a space where you feel

Work so hard just to

Pretend everyday that you are

Work so hard just to

Prove to everyone you are

Work so hard just to

Hope to God you won’t come

Always hope. Always believe. Always love. ❤️

Poetry: Afraid of Love

By Monica C. Voskamp

So afraid

Afraid to trust

Afraid the girl inside me

Will be betrayed once more

Afraid the woman I travel inside

Will be discarded, kicked out the door

Afraid so afraid to let anyone dare

Dare come into this haven place

This vulnerable fragile soul

Afraid so afraid to trust

Trust one more time

Afraid of love.

Always hope. Always believe. Always love. 💕

Poetry: No More

By Monica C. Voskamp

Hear the words of my heart

Screaming silence

Hear the echoing of pain

Deafening roar.

No more, No more

No more times to hurt me

It’s high time I looked

Offenders in the eye

No more no more

No more will you hurt me.

See the beauty

Maddening loss

See the innocent

Ruined furniture.

Objects of selfish

Pride and lust

Greed and hate

Hear the innocent cry,

Atomic bomb.

No more, No more

No more times to hurt me

I look offenders in the eye

No more no more

No more will you

Ever hurt me.

Colours splattered

Bruises made

Foundations cracked

Heritage lost.

What does it matter

When the past

Entangles, cripples innocent

While the offenders

Walk out.

No more, No more

No more times to hurt me

I look offenders in the eye

No more no more

No more dare you hurt me.

Piecing together

Burning Ashes

Creating abstract art.

Recreating her

Present chaos

Making loss

Astounding gain.

Lost whisper

In the wind

Bleeds into a song

Resilience, hope

Strength to carry on.

She raises her

Ashes charred

A mesmerizing

New beauty.

She raises her

Soul patched

Work of Art

New beginning.

No more, No more

No more times to hurt me

I leave offenders cruelty

No more, no more

This, my goodbye.

Always hope. Always believe. Always love. 💕

Poetry: Shattered Soul

By Monica C. Voskamp

Shattered soul

Broken discarded and overused.

You are shattered

Yet still you breathe.

In your jagged broken pieces

You gulp in short bursts of

Twisted Oxygen

By allowing your soul

To shatter a little more.

A little more pleasure

A little more hurt

A little more abuse

A little more of anything

To numb all the ache

Of every jagged edge

Of every painful memory

Of every single day

You regret.

Shattered soul

You think you’re beyond repair.

Maybe it’s true

But maybe it’s not.

And that 50/50 chance

Is what you’ve got

Working for you.

Don’t worry how you look in the mirror.

Don’t worry what the past says is true.

Let your broken pieces be seen

For the agony they reflect

For the wound they portray.

Bare naked your broken

And give love a chance

To meet you there

Shattered Soul.

Always hope. Always believe. Always love. 💕

Poetry: We Didn’t Drown

By Monica C. Voskamp

You could have walked away

In distain.

You could have looked away

From my pain.

You could have left me to tire out

You could have let the waves

Take hold of me.

But you are not the fool

To play the part

Of watching a tired soul

You risked your life by

Saving mine.

You gave your strength

To chains prisoning me.

You dove that deep

To make sure I would swim

You didn’t walk away

In my wrestling.

You didn’t walk away,

No, you stayed.

I could’ve drowned.

I could’ve been deprived

Of all my oxygen.

I could’ve died

In my chains.

But you made sure

That wasn’t the fate for me.

You made sure that wasn’t

The last page of my history.

I didn’t die that long hard night

I didn’t drown.

When I couldn’t fight the waves

And was crying out,

You reached out.

You showed me

Hands of love don’t judge,

They reach out.

I didn’t drown; I didn’t die.

My body didn’t turn bloated blue.

I’m not on that ocean bed tonight,

Because someone was brave enough

To swim the depths to me

To guide me to the surface,

To see me

I will always remember that someone

That heroic someone

Who saw the miracle through,

Who now says with me:

We didn’t drown.

We defied the storm.

We’re swimming weightless,

Always believe. Always hope. Always love. ❤
